Plastic-free Gardening with FAIR ZONE
Remove microplastic from your garden!
United in our passion for fair trade and sustainability, we are guided by the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) set by the United Nations in 2015. We are particularly passionate about ending poverty and hunger, access to clean water and sanitation, healthcare and education, gender equality, promoting renewable energy, moving towards responsible consumption, climate action and protecting marine and land life. We put this into practice by working with our certification partners and the ongoing independent auditing of our standards that this entails: As one of the founding members of the Fair Rubber organisation, we apply the principles of fair trade to natural rubber. By paying a premium, small-scale farms and workers can sustainably improve their living conditions. This is how gardening and household products are made from fairly traded natural rubber, which we also source from FSC-certified plantations. The Vegan Society guarantees with its seal that our products are free from animal ingredients without exception. FAIR ZONE is therefore a safe choice for vegan and environmentally conscious people.
In line with the SDGs on climate protection, we have also recognised the major problem of plastic packaging and acted accordingly. Only 9% of the world’s plastic waste is recycled, 12% is incinerated and the majority of 79% is landfilled or disposed of in the environment. By 2050, there could be more plastic swimming in the sea than fish. We are determined to counteract this development and therefore rely on natural rubber as the main material for our products. It is a natural, renewable raw material that incidentally absorbs more CO2 than most tropical rainforests. Furthermore, we have freed the majority of our assortment from all unnecessary plastic and have switched to paper packaging. We are constantly working on new packaging options and are step by step moving closer to being plastic-free. With experts, we have developed a comprehensive emissions compensation concept and are allowed to call our economic activities and many of our FAIR ZONE products climate neutral. Our emissions are compensated, for example through the procurement of clean and efficient pressure cookers in India as well as through reforestation measures in the Schaalsee biosphere reserve.
Fair trade relations, ecological responsibility and a consistent no to child labour and animal testing are of course also part of our principles. What else belongs to FAIR ZONE for us? A multicultural, committed team with the ambition to make the world a little bit better. Discrimination on any level (including, but not limited to gender, sexual orientation, race, ability) has no place with us and we clearly oppose it.
